News From McCulloch England
Retirement, Leadership, Promotion and New Faces
Retirement ...almost.
As of January 1st, 2025, Larry May will retire from his position as Executive Vice President from McCulloch England Architects after 36 years of service.
Larry’s dedication to our firm is evident even in his retirement. Larry was one of the original architects on the Matthews Medical Center in 1994 and he has been part of nearly every project on the campus. Larry will remain part-time to finish out the construction administration of the current $150M Matthews Bed Tower Addition.
Larry’s affinity for detail and construction methods had been a huge benefit to every project that has left our office. He was instrumental in the development of typical wall sections, details and construction administration standards for McCulloch England. Larry’s impact on our firm will live on in all those he has mentored over his tenure, the lessons he passed on to the next generation and the steadfast determination and ownership he exhibited on all of his projects.
Larry’s significant projects include Matthews Medical Center, Huntersville Medical Center, Brunswick Medical Center, Mission Dogwood Building & East Building, Nash Surgery Pavilion, Beaufort ICU, ED Expansion & Administration Center and Spartanburg Five Forks & Boiling Springs Medical Offices.
Leadership - Executive Vice President
Garrett Olin AIA, NCARB Olin will assume the role of Executive Vice President and work alongside Grace Murray, President, in providing leadership in the firm. Garrett celebrated 25 years at McCulloch England Architects last year and has been instrumental in some of our most complex Acute Care projects in addition to fulfilling a major role in Marketing and Business Development. Garrett has dedicated his entire career to healthcare architecture.
Promotion - Director & Vice President
Daniel Kinken will join Grace Murray and Garrett Olin as a Director and Officer of the firm as part of this leadership transition. Daniel is currently a Principal and leads large projects including freestanding facilities, additions and renovations. Daniel also plays a major role in the Operations and Quality Control within the firm. Daniel celebrated 16 years at McCulloch England last September.
New Faces

Both graduated from University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May with Master of Architecture and have become integrated into our acute care and medical office teams. Excited to see what the future holds for these two emerging professionals.
