What I wish I knew before??? …….is exactly what my client said to me as fear and doubt led to my procrastination on my first canvas commission. “If I didn’t think you could do the work I would have never asked you. You need to believe in yourself a little more.” Stung a little, made me chuckle at how much I appreciate her honesty, and also a sweet hug of encouragement. Truth is, once I got over myself and got into it I loved it! Both canvases I built with the help of my kind neighbor. Their size 48” x 48” seemed overwhelming for my first commission on canvas. The reality was that it was minuscule compared to what I do everyday. I could do things that I can’t do on the larger wall surfaces I am used to working on. Ah the lessons in life. I did 2 canvas’ so she could choose her favorite. “Night” and “Day”. Which one do you think she chose?

Hot, exhausted, and yet so inspired and grateful. I have the coolest friends. And they are building the coolest farm. Although I have been subject to many attacks and terrors as their most faithful farm hand, I feel incredibly blessed to witness and be a part of this amazing life they are creating for their family.

The Flora mural is finished! Pics can’t pick it up but this thing also sparkles with all kinds of metallic, glitter, ground glass, interference powders. The inspo was a wallpaper my client saw in New Orleans. We used that inspo and incorporated her, very unique, color palette she has throughout her home to create this moody floral for her back staircase.

On National Vietnam War Veterans Day, I’m a proud daughter of Vietnam War veteran Thomas Paul Banner, U.S. Army, 25th Infantry Artillery, 1965–1967.

It’s funny how sometimes your heart feels heavy and you don’t know why—until you do.

I have two of my dad’s veteran hats. I had “Proud Daughter Of” embroidered on the side of them. Yesterday, I put one on, just needing comfort, I guess. And later today I realized what day it was.

Every surface of this room goes together. The custom designed ceiling border lifts your eyes from the strie textured and stenciled walls, over the metallic crown molding, to the soft yet dramatic wash over the entire ceiling, and finally to the starburst medallion taking center stage.
