Hillside Holiday Hunger Drive Through Throughout December, visit Hillside Ave. to see the magical display of holiday lights. in 2019, we raised nearly 40,000 pounds! In 2020, 86,000 pounds!

Bring non perishable food items to help feed the needy in our community Or text hillside to 50155 to donate. The lights are on every night and food items can be dropped off anytime between now and December 26th. If you can't get by to see the lights and donate food items, you can make a financial donation in honor of Hillside Avenue at www.loavesandfishes.org. Text "Hillside" to 44321

We especially want to thank the the neighbors on Hillside Ave and the surrounding streets for decorating so lovely, helping with the food drive and putting up with the traffic on the street over the holidays! Hillside Avenue started hanging lights on the street as a neighborhood after being inspired by a similar neighborhood in Greensboro. Mason Schmitt, a teenager, created the idea to collect food for Loaves & Fishes as part of their Girl Scout Gold Award in 2012. The first year, the drive raised 20,000 pounds of food for people in our community living with hunger. Last year, 98,000 pounds of food.
