If you’ve ever looked at a room in your house and thought…
“Why can’t I get it to look right?”
I’ve been there. 🙋‍♀️

For years, I wasted money on the wrong rugs, the wrong furniture, the wrong paint colors, the wrong everything… and ended up doing the dreaded return walk back into the store more times than I’d like to admit.

The difference between a room that feels off and one that feels peaceful, pulled together, and YOU?

It’s not a bigger budget.
It’s not buying more stuff.
It’s having a plan.

That’s exactly what I teach inside DIY Decorator School™, my step-by-step system to help you:
✨ Use what you already have in a whole new way
✨ Thrift and shop smarter (no more wasted money)
✨ Create a cohesive, designer-looking space on a real-life budget

If you’re ready to finally stop guessing and start loving your home…

If only I hadn’t passed up all of those “too-small” vintage rugs at the thrift store over the years… all because I didn’t remember this simple decorating trick: layering rugs!

It was such a small change, but somehow the whole room feels warmer, softer, and more collected like it finally settled in and got comfortable.

Have you ever layered rugs before? Or do you suddenly feel the urge to start rescuing all the “too small” rugs too? 😉

If you want the simple rules + my favorite rug pairings, comment LAYER for the full rug guide.

✨Before and After✨ makeover journey of our laundry room!

This space used to be a utility porch in the 1960s (swipe to see the surprise in our walls)!

The walls and corners weren’t square at all which made installing the IKEA cabinets very tricky. But we pulled it off and now the new layout makes so much more sense!

We didn’t let a single inch go to waste with hidden storage packed into every little gap to be as functional possible.

Swipe all the way to the end to see the final cost.

You can comment LAUNDRY and I’ll send you the post with all of the sources and tutorials or you can find it here:

Real flowers are pretty… but flowers that never die? Even better. 🌸😉

After lots of trial and error, these are the most realistic faux flowers I keep coming back to every spring. They look real, photograph beautifully, and instantly make a space feel fresh and alive.

Comment FLOWERS to get all of the links to my favorite stems.

Which one fooled you the most? 👀

Save this before the storm hits 🤍

If you’re in the Southeastern U.S., you’ve probably seen the forecast by now: a winter storm is expected in just a few days.

Around here, snow usually isn’t the biggest concern.
Ice is. And ice almost always brings power outages with it.

This is the winter storm prep checklist our family uses, broken down by 3 days before, 2 days before, and the day before the storm so you can prep a little at a time without the panic.

It helps our home (and nerves) feel ready.

👉 Save this post so you can come back to it
👉 Comment “WINTER” and I’ll send you the printable checklist + extra resources like:
• power outage meal ideas
• a winter storm grocery list
• no-power entertainment ideas
• how to prep your car

A little prep now can save a lot of stress later. (And it seems like Murphy’s Law… the more we prep, the faster the storm dissipates, right? 🙃)

Bouncing back from a sick week with my 2025 recap! It was a big year with many twists and turns + recovery from long ignored burnout, but I’m thankful for my wisdom gained and my faith deepened at the end of it all.

Because of 2025, my 2026 feels much more purpose-driven with many of my “whys” answered. I can’t wait to see God’s plans unfold…

Every year, I give myself this small Christmas tradition.

After the house goes quiet and everyone is asleep, I turn on soft Christmas music, switch on the lamps, and photograph our home lit up at night.

It’s my way of slowing down.

Of reflecting on the year.

Of letting myself finally exhale during an otherwise busy season.

So here’s your reminder to exhale, to rest, to leave it be, to feel peace, no matter what 2025 has looked like for you.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Merry Christmas!

Anyone else still piddlin’ with decor on this 23rd of December? 🤭

8 effortless Christmas decorating tips to keep things simple, cozy, and meaningful:

1. Christmas books or games under the tree
2. Ribbon as DIY napkin rings
3. Faux roses mixed with greenery (not just for Christmas!)
4. Porch planters used indoors for trees
5. Mismatched ornaments + one ribbon color to unify
6. Garland laid across a headboard
7. Spray-painted letter keychains as stocking tags
8. A game board styled on the coffee table

✨ Save this for later

Our 2025 Christmas home, one cozy corner at a time 🎄

Except… we’re not gonna talk about that last slide, IYKYK.

I love slowing down and capturing the quiet moments, the glow of the lamps, the greenery tucked in just enough places, the rooms that feel extra peaceful this time of year.

Full tour + decorating details are up on blesserhouse.com. 🤍

✨ DIY Nutcracker Lamp!

Just takes 3 things - a nutcracker with a flat top, a mini lamp shade, and a battery light. (And maybe double sided tape to keep the shade in place but as long as you balance it and don’t move it around, it’s fine without.)

Easy, cute, and now this corner of our laundry room has its own little bit of Christmas decor.

2018 vs 2025. Same rooms, same angles… 7 years apart. Very different chapters.

Back then, we had a 6 year old and a newborn just trying desperately to make some magic after long, sleepless colicky nights and a very rough PPD heavy postpartum phase.

Now, this home carries years of memories, lessons learned, projects finished (and a few still in progress). Now it feels like we are in the savoring stage of our home as our 13 year-old and 7 year-old are growing way too quickly.

It’s never really been about the “before” or the “after.”

It’s about the becoming and the life that happens in between.

If you’re in the early chapters, don’t rush them. Give yourself grace and know that however hard you work, it is enough. 🤍
