The US Navy set out to find an asphalt recycler to quickly repair bombed-out airstrips in remote locations so their aircraft could land again. “Remote locations” means no asphalt plant exists there. The Navy’s selection criteria included reliability, speed & ease of operation, quality of hot mix asphalt produced, operational flexibility, but a key was “mobility”. Mobility means a recycler’s ability to efficiently travel i.e make and discharge hot mix asphalt at the site of repair. Other manufacturers’ models tout mobility, but operate best when held in a stationary location. The RENOVA 4000 efficiently travels to repair sites, mixes, heats and discharges mix, if desired, directly into a hole to be filled. After a demonstration of these qualities, the US Navy chose RENOVA to deliver a technology that works for them. The 4000’s built for the Navy can be lifted and placed onto a C-130 Transport Aircraft. So, pictures show the (yellow) lifting apparatus.
