A little trip down memory lane before I spam you with the *official* Afters photoshoot of The Cabbage. Watch to the end to see a little sneak peak of the big day.

A snippet of a mini doc I worked on this time last year, capturing the magic of my community’s Sweet Potato Dig - a community collaboration combating local food insecurity using public land to grow sweet potatoes and volunteers to farm it. We’re gearing up for the 2nd annual dig this week! To learn more about the project and see the unedited film go to sweetpotatodig.com

I helped my sister renovate the powder room in her house - a grist mill from the 1800s. She laid slate tile harvested from a local quarry, and then .notes and I added wainscoting, a niche, and some fresh paint ✨

I finally visited Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello after reading about its quirks in Bill Bryson‘s “At Home” (10/10📕). The estate, in all its glory never actually seen during Jefferson’s lifetime, is complete with the first domed roof in an American home, bed nooks inspired by his time in France, wood tiles (my favorite), and more. Jefferson was a self-taught architect who had trouble finding skilled creaftamen who could pull off his detailed designs. The museum is also the best approach I’ve seen of capturing the histories of the many enslaved people that lived there (and made it grandeur possible).

Did you know about Jefferson’s Monticello? 🏫

The newest books on my shelves (from my library’s used book sale).

A palette of my recent curiosities. I’ve been loving Bill Bryson’s At Home so I can’t wait to read more of his work. The Stars spoke to me despite having no real interest in space. Maybe it’s just the cover ⭐️ and for $2 I can have the cover. Japanese craftsmanship has always captivated me - the intricate simplicity and depiction to craft. Eric Sloane is an American treasure, both for his illustrations and his view of American life at home. And gardening… does every green thumb has a love/hate relationship to garden books, or just me?
