We are looking for talented and passionate emerging young architects to join our team. Candidates must have an accredited undergraduate degree in architecture and professional office experience between 1-5 years (equal to that of AIA Intern / Level 1 Architect; unlicensed or licensed). Proficiency in SketchUp, InDesign, Photoshop and Revit are required. Hand drawing / sketching skills are desired; and a basic understanding of building codes and construction detailing is highly valued. This position will involve working directly with principals on schematic and conceptual designs and presentations, overseeing design development and managing document coordination as well as routine client and consultant interactions on projects.

The CODE Building has received an American Architecture Honorable Mention Award for 2023 from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.

Excited to announce that in the last 2 weeks, the CODE Building, which we designed in collaboration with our associate architect, Eskew Dumez Ripple, has earned a 2023 AIA Virginia Honor Award for Architecture as well as a 2023 Virginia USGBC Design + Construction Award and a 2023 Virginia USGBC People's Choice Award! And in the last couple of months, the project was also honored with a 2023 GOOD DESIGN Sustainability Award for Green Architecture and a 2023 Virginia Energy Efficiency Leadership Award. Its been rewarding to see such recognition that reflects the outstanding teamwork and collaboration by all of the design team and consultants as well as the efforts made by Hourigan Construction and most importantly, the commitment made to our community by our client and his team at CSH Development. A week-long design festival, organized by volunteers at Tuesday Design Society, a local 501(c) non-profit. Events are designed for professionals and students in mind, but open to the public. Architecture events include a tour of the AIA award-winning CODE building, led by Wolf Ackerman, on Wednesday, April 5th, at 10am and a firm crawl and portfolio review on Thursday, April 6th. See website for all events!

We are very excited to finally be able to share that the CODE Building, designed in collaboration with our architectural partners at EskewDumezRipple, has received LEED Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Utilizing a variety of strategies in our approach to the exterior building envelop, the material palette, energy conservation, and rainwater management as well as taking practical advantage of natural amenities like fresh air and daylight - we designed CODE to create a modern, sustainable and environmentally sensitive workplace that meets the AIA 2030 Challenge for efficiency and thermal performance. Like the AIA Honor Award, this recognition is a total team effort between everyone on the design and engineering team (WA, EDR, Gregg Bleam Landscape Architect, 2RW, Fox & Associates and Timmons + countless sub-consultants), Hourigan Construction and Structr Advisors, as well as our incredible client and their CSH team!

WOLF ACKERMAN is proud to announce that the CODE Building (the Center of Developing Entrepreneurs), located in Charlottesville VA and designed in collaboration with our associate architect and design partners at Eskew Dumez Ripple, has received a 2023 National AIA Design Award for Architecture from The American Institute of Architects. CODE is one of only 15 projects to receive this prestigious award!

We are immensely thankful and appreciative of the commitment made by the client, CSH Development, as well as for the creativity and passion which our design partners, consultants and general contractor all brought to this complex project. And we are most honored to have AIA recognize its value and the benefit it brings to our local community!
