Eltzroth & Thompson Greenhouses Family owned greenhouse, founded in 1971, with locally grown plants!

Following his graduation from the University of Maryland with a doctorate in horticulture, Dan Eltzroth, along with Carol Eltzroth, desired to start a greenhouse where growing quality plants was paramount. Over 40 years later, Eltzroth & Thompson encompasses 2 sites, 5 “growing” acres, and 11 warmed greenhouses, and they continue to provide first rate customer service as well as quality plants. Today, their son, Jay, manages the day to day operations to ensure the highest standards are met.

Mother’s Day Weekend is blooming at the E&T!

Still looking for the perfect Mother’s Day gift? Skip the last-minute candle aisle panic — moms really do love flowers, fresh air, and “just one more plant.” 😉

Our greenhouse is open all weekend and bursting with beautiful annuals, hardy perennials, colorful hanging baskets, shrubs, and plenty of goodies for gardeners of every level (including the ones who lovingly “supervise” while someone else digs the holes).

We’ve also stocked gardening tools, accessories, décor, and equipment to help make this growing season the best one yet.

Whether you’re shopping for Mom, grandma, your favorite plant-loving mom friend, or yourself (because self-care can absolutely include petunias), we’d love to see you!

Come wander the greenhouse, breathe in the sunshine and soil, and leave with something beautiful.

We are open Saturday and Sunday 830 to 5!

"Polarnacht" Rhododendron is gorgeous, and we have it!

This is a striking, low-maintenance, evergreen rhodo famous for its near-black buds that open into frilly, intense deep-purple flowers with dark red spots, blooming late May to early June.

It has a compact, spreading habit, maturing to around 3–4 feet high and 5–6 feet wide, making it ideal for shrub borders or containers!
