+ purchase lumber

Fact: This is the first dining table we’ve owned since our secondhand (most basic) Ikea table we bought as broke newlyweds 10 years ago. 😆. When we sold our last house in 2017 we gave that one away and used a Costco folding table for the next 5 years! 🤣 . We knew we wanted to buy, or build, the perfect table for our someday home. I’ve been in love with this Basque dining table for a couple years and put it at the top of our furniture budget list. (Though honestly, it’s a really good price for large solid wood tables!) The 7 months of anticipation after ordering it were even worth it. 😅🙏🏼. It’s exactly what we wanted. Now we just need more chairs or a bench so we can stuff it full of people and lots of food 😘.

The antiquing itch is strong now… Love this old Narnia wardrobe down here in the dining space! My son got inside when we first put it in and I legit had a “No Edmund!” in British accent moment. 😂

Btw the long awaited dining table is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and if they try to reschedule I will TRACK THEM DOWN.. 👁👣🥷🏼

A change in texture // We paneled the island this past weekend with pine tongue and groove stained with Miniwax Special Walnut. I like how it tones down the kitchen and how well the stained pine matches the maple cabinets and bar stools. Such an easy and fulfilling project!

Throughout the design process we often thought “eee this room is going to be too small.” Turns out we were only right in one instance (😂👏🏼 a closet.) The main bath turned out wonderful. I love how all the details came together in the end. (And I STILL need to decide on a bath tile 🤪🙏🏼).

The fireplace is all done and just what we envisioned! The cottage components to this simple home layout are truly coming to life better than we hoped. The stone is by and the grout is white. The mantle is actually made of concrete and non combustible so we could place it closer to the stove than originally thought. Thankful for our amazing mason who did all the stone work on the house!

I went to a giant antique mall with a list of ideas and space dimensions to see what I could find. 4.5 hours (😂☠️) later I had walked each maze like aisle 3 times, taken pictures of my favorite things, and created a mental design for 2 spaces, and stuffed the car to its limit. 👏🏼 The cute old lady at checkout asked if I even had enough space in my house for all the items and that I should tell my husband there’s a no return policy 😂. After setting it all up, my design nerd brain couldn’t fall asleep for the excitement of the hunt and final compilation. 🤓😘. I mean WHAT A RUSH right? 😜

33 laps around the sun today. Thankful for my family, health, and all the incredible adventures I’ve had the past year. 33 won’t be AS wild adventure filled, but it will be home filled, and I’m so so thankful for that. 💕
