We're looking for a crew member.

You won't be just a laborer, you'll be learning a valuable skill. We work in a fast paced, small, very skilled team environment. You'll learn how to operate machinery, run chainsaws, and climb trees if you have the right stuff.

You must have a driver's license and a decent record. Truck and trailer experience is a plus.

Experience is welcome, but if you're set in your ways it's not going to work out. I'm pretty flexible with people, but attitudes, ego and bad practices aren't tolerated.

We are a professional company that focuses on high quality pruning and safe hazard removals.

Starts at $19/hr without tree experience and moves up from there.

Message me if youre interested.

It's about that time again.

You've probably heard of the final invasive species we'll be spotlighting this week. Pretty soon, callery pear (pyrus calleryana) will be seen blooming across our landscape, demonstrating how severely this tree has spread. On top of their aggressive growth, callery pears are a huge safety hazard, prone to dropping heavy limbs after weather events. Not to mention the large thorns, or the unpleasant smell the flowers put off. 🤢

For pretty white flowers without all the issues, consider serviceberry (melanchier canadensis), American fringetree (chionanthus virginicus) or Virginia's beautiful state tree, the white dogwood (cornus florida), which we sell from our nurseries! ➡️ https://ow.ly/9wpW50QJAnK

Here's the deal. READ UNTIL THE END!

A lot of tree companies out there want to sell you a bunch of work you don't need to make a quick buck. Such as removing trees that don't need to be removed, cutting off an excessive amount of limbs for pruning and lying about tree diseases.

We don't. We listen to your goals and make recommendations from there. If your tree doesn't need to be removed, we'll tell you. If what you're asking to be done is harmful to the tree, we'll tell you. And you'll only be quoted for work that should be done.

How do we know what your trees need? We're Certified Arborists and Tree Risk Assessors. We have the certs to back up 12 years of experience. Sure, there are plenty of companies with more experience but you can easily spend 20 years doing something the wrong way.

We're interested in keeping your trees healthy and doing only the minimum that should be done. If we can do that and keep you happy, we're betting you'll call us next time there's a tree issue.

So, give Wendi Phillips a call or text. No obligation. Worst that happens is you learn something about trees.

Did you know?

Carpenter Ants don't actually cause harm to a tree, they only take advantage of damage that's already there. In many cases ants can help with rot management in trees by disposing of soft, decayed tissue.

So- they *might* be a symptom of a problem but not the cause. Leave them be, ants are important to our ecosystem.

Did you know Arboriculture has its own set of guidelines?

For safety and a "how to" guide for any operation.

The difference between Arboriculture and most other trades is we're not required to follow the "how to" guide, ANSI A300 standards. It tells you the best way to take care of your trees, yet most tree services have never even heard of it. It's like an un-educated electrician making up his own rules about how to wire your house.

More often than not, tree cutters cause more problems than they "cured". Don't hire a tree cutter, hire an Arborist. Even if it's not us. Cheap now could cost you more than money in the long run.

Many companies call this a "hurricane cleanout" or "interior thinning". It's called Lions Tailing and it's very detrimental to the tree. Don't be suckered into paying more for sub par work.

From Texas International Society of Arboriculture-

"It’s called Lions Tail Pruning, and it damages the health, and structural stability of the tree. It is a pruning method where all of the interior branches are removed, leaving only tufts of leaves and small branches at the ends of the large limbs. Trees suffer from malnutrition, sun burn, and increased limb breakage. Removing excessive amounts of leaves reduces the ability of a tree to make food. Exposing previously shaded bark to full sun causes it to split open, creating a wound. Reducing the branches to a small tuft at the end of a long limb creates a lever that catches the wind, often snapping the branch off"
