Proud to announce a new pending cultivar submission, Philodendron 'Kitina', a hybrid of Philodendron Florida Beauty and Philodendron mayoi.

In 2021, Mr. Yanakorn Kongaton (ญาณกร กงถัน) and Prang Kitina (ปรางค์ กิตินา) of Oh My Plantae pollinated Philodendron Florida Beauty with pollen collected from Philodendron mayoi. Of the 300 offspring, 28 displayed variegation. Throughout 2022, they grew the 28 variegated plants to maturity and selected one with superior leaf shape and variegation.

This hybrid displays a combination of the traits of both parents. It maintains a growth pattern similar to Philodendron Florida Beauty, with green stems from the Philodendron mayoi. The petioles are smooth and round. As the plant matures, it consistently produces narrow, pinnately lobed foliage. The lobes are round like Philodendron mayoi, while the lobed structure is similar to that of Philodendron Florida Beauty.

Thank you for the hard work and collaboration of Prang Kitina & Yanakorn Kongthan of Oh My Plantae (hybridizers) and Gijs Lamers & Thanthira Nok of Amazon Garden (exclusive vendors). We will begin selling this cultivar early-mid 2023.

Despite the weather this week, the 2022 Winter Plant Fair is still on! Current weather reports predict that snow will stop on Thursday, so roads should be cleared by the fair on Friday & Saturday.
