Can you believe it? Monsoon Pottery turns 10 on July 16th! In celebration of this momentous occasion, I’m throwing a party at my favorite bar, FRIENDS of FRIENDS.

Everyone is invited on Sunday, July 26 from 4-7pm. I’ve somehow convinced the astonishing alana to vend bingsu for this special occasion so come early to make sure you can grab some! I’ll want to see everyone I can before I leave for London on the 31st so please come through if you’re in town :)

RSVP if you’ll come or are interested in coming. Partiful link in bio.

Our last Chinatown update this year! This one is an Asian vegetable series that is a continuation of our Botanical Collection. Liv Krueger has been a studio assistant at Monsoon Pottery since 2021. This is the first time they have hand-carved a collection on their own—a meaningful capstone to a job well done under my exacting (overbearing?) tutelage.

I chose each vegetable to represent favorite dishes across the Asian American diaspora. We have napa cabbage, daikon, cilantro, ginger, and okra.

As Monsoon goes on hiatus soon for my grad school stint, I couldn’t be more grateful for the support Liv has provided over the last five years. Monsoon would not be where it is without them and there’s no better porcelain hand-builder around. Link in bio to shop these beauties in the Chinatown Collection.

The last open studio and opportunity to shop in-person before I go on hiatus for grad school! I’ll have wood fired pieces at regular price and everything else on discount. This is a studio clear-out situation.

Saturday & Sunday, July 11 & 12 from 10am-2pm at 2154 W Hubbard St.

I’ll be open to discussing quantity discounts! Keep an eye on stories and posts throughout the week to see what we’ll be digging out of storage.

This weekend! I’ll be showing alongside 50 other ceramic artists at the .house Chicago Pottery Market, just north of Do Division.

I’ll have my freshly wood fired pots from this month’s Wisconsin firing and a few surprises I’ll reveal leading up to the event.

Please come and support your local artists. This is going to be a fun one!

Join us for an evening of art history, clay carving, wine tasting, and dinner with on Wednesday, June 10 from 6-9pm. This will be the last Clay Carving class I hold before I go to grad school in the fall!

The night begins with enjoying a welcome pour of wine and a picnic style dinner while I deliver an art history lecture about the history of blue and white wares and the inlay technique.

We then carve a clay tile together so everyone gets a feel for the process before moving onto decorating their plates. The workshop includes a single plate to decorate and additional plates are available for purchase. I love helping everyone realize their vision and making sure you get the best possible result. 🤓🥰🤩

This is your reminder that we have a few seats remaining for our Clay Carving Workshop at this Saturday from 11am-2pm.

As a reminder, we start off the workshop with a lecture that covers the history of Blue & White Porcelain, the Korean Inlay technique, and how I mix these influences in my practice. You’ll be given the full equipment to appreciate the art making with the impossibility of appropriating it.

We then go through a carving demo together using a blank tile before moving onto your take-home plate. The workshop includes one plate to decorate and additional plates are available for $40 each.

This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to create a family heirloom that can outlast you. I hope to see you this Saturday! Link in bio. Photos by .
