She said she loved the stone.

I listened. Maybe a little too well. 😂

Countertops were only the beginning. We carried it up the walls, into the niches and across the ceiling because when a material is this beautiful, I don’t think it should just decorate the space. It should become part of the architecture.

And yes, the client loves it.

Would you have stopped at the countertop… or kept going?

When a Highlander wedding needs a little American design intervention… 🇵🇱🇺🇸

This one made me laugh.

A Polish Highlander wedding, a very opinionated father of the groom, a flower shop in southern Poland… and somehow NZ DESIGN & Construction Inc. in Chicago gets pulled into the plan.

Thank you Kwiaciarnia Kotowscy for trusting me with the creative direction and for bringing the ideas to life so beautifully.

And for my American friends: yes, I translated the Polish Highlander dialect into English so you can finally be in on the joke too. 😂

Design really does travel.

I don’t stop being a designer when I travel. I look at how things were built, how they aged, what nature did to them, and what we can learn from places that weren’t designed to be perfect.

I came back from Poland with hundreds of beautiful vacation photos… and somehow my camera roll is still mostly stone. 😂

But here’s the thing: to a client, some of these may look almost identical.

To a designer, they’re completely different.

The movement, undertone, finish, scale of the veining and how the slab works with cabinetry, flooring and lighting can change the entire room.

So yes, we take 135 photos. And then probably go back and take 50 more.

Tell me I’m not the only designer whose camera roll looks like this.

Inny kraj. Inne materiały. Inny rodzaj projektu.

Ale kreatywność podąża za nami wszędzie.

Stay creative, even on vacation.

Preparing a beautiful table for family gatherings and celebrations has always been one of my favorite things to do. For me, flowers, color, proportion and atmosphere are all part of design, whether I’m working on an interior or setting a table for the people I love.

During my stay in Poland, thanks to my best friend, I had the chance to be creative in a completely different environment: her family’s flower shop.

What makes this place special is its history. The shop was founded by her mother-in-law in 1977 and has been serving the local community ever since. Today, they create flowers for everyday moments, birthdays and celebrations, but also large weddings, hotel events, christenings, funerals and important family occasions.

For this celebration, I was lucky enough to step behind the scenes, work alongside them, choose flowers, build the arrangement and then watch it become part of the finished table.

Thank you for letting me into your creative world, for the conversations, the stories and the little insights into a business that has been part of its community for almost 50 years.

Different country. Different materials. Different kind of project.

But creativity follows you wherever you go.

Would you rather see a playground like this or a modern commercial one?

08/08/2026

Here in the Polish mountains, I found this little playground inspired by traditional mountain architecture. No shiny commercial equipment. No attempt to make it look like something it isn’t.

Just wood, craftsmanship, imagination and a strong connection to its surroundings.

As a designer, it reminded me of something important: once safety and function are taken care of, we have permission to be creative.

Outdoor spaces can tell a story too.

Thank you, Hotel Zawrat, for being such a wonderful host and for unexpectedly giving this designer a little inspiration.
