The client’s wish was a legacy home. The work was translating that into something you can actually live in, a lakefront house designed with the kind of architectural integrity and custom detailing that makes it feel as though it has always existed.

Designed for slow mornings, afternoon naps, and the kind of lake living that asks you to put your phone down for awhile.

The way materials meet is incredibly important to me. Stone against weathered wood, blackened metal beside plaster, each one chosen not to stand apart, but to strengthen the next.

From watercolor to reality. Long before the cushions were chosen or the Frank Stella piece was hung, this living room began on paper. The bay window seating area was designed around the view, with a curved sofa hugging the bay and a white sofa anchoring the room, creating a place for family gatherings, long conversations, and grandkids piled in together for holiday dinners.

It’s certainly bittersweet to see our former home in its summer glory. Thankfully, the new stewards of this lovely place are wonderful and are taking all the right steps to keep her as beautiful as she’s been since David Adler designed her over 100 years ago.

Somewhere between inside and outside, suspended by rope from the beams overhead, this is where you come when the goal is to truly rest. Pine trees fill every window. The lake is quiet by design. There are no screens here except the ones meant to let the air through.

The sleeping porch was one of many decisions shaped by the project’s central idea: that restraint is its own form of luxury. No motorized activity on the lake, no drywall in the house, no materials that didn’t feel connected to the land itself. Just birch, pine, rope, light, and the kind of stillness that has to be designed for, because modern life rarely gives it to you on its own.

Forty-some floors above downtown Nashville, the city shifts at dusk in a way that makes everything else go quiet. This penthouse began as an empty shell, with no walls, no light, and no material language at all. What you see now is entirely built: French white oak underfoot, a custom lighting composition overhead that mirrors the skyline’s tangle of light and line, and intimate seating arranged around sweeping city views.

A sequence of doors, each one revealing the next, creates a layered arrival into the wine cellar, built for conversation, hosting, and time well spent. A reflection of how the client lives, where design supports not just the space, but their lifestyle, hobbies, and interests as well.

A place for everything, and a moment to enjoy it. Soft blue cabinetry, marble surfaces, and thoughtful detailing create a dressing room that feels as considered as it is functional. Drawers lined and organized, pieces on display, and a sense of order that makes getting ready feel effortless.

As summer approaches, travel begins to pick up.

For a longtime client and friend, this aircraft was taken down to its fuselage and reimagined in just 30 days, with a focus on clarity, comfort, and precision. Cream Townsend leather seating, Holly Hunt textiles, and a Tapis leather headliner bring a sense of lightness to the cabin, each detail reflecting a considered approach to design. Because even in motion, the experience should feel as resolved as any space on the ground.
