Wonderful project for wonderful people. This fireplace mantle with built-in surrounds was a treat to build.

All beams were reclaimed and sold by and carefully hand-selected for appearance. Vertical posts are half-lapped into the main beam to create a flush face and provide structure. Pegs are installed to be functional. Cabinets are recessed into the backside of beams for a seamless caulk-free finish. Drywall on the sides is recessed into a channel for a clean aesthetic.
Beams were treated with tung oil, several coats of shellac, waxed and then hand-buffed to reveal their now elevated beauty.
