While the original deck had stairs, the customer wanted us to install the new deck without stairs so it could only be accessed from the upper floor. At this point in the project, we had to make sure the structure was perfect before installing new decking. If the framing isn’t perfectly level, it’ll be noticeable in the finished deck!

The first step was to remove all of the old railings and decking, and that typically moves pretty quick! In some cases, if the structure of the deck is still in good shape, we can save the customer some money by keeping the frame and just installing new decking. But in this case, the customer wanted us to replace the entire structure.

This customer was ready to update their shower. While it has the modern style of black accents on white tile, the main problem is around the drain. Typically, older fiberglass shower bases start to crack around stress points like around the drain or in the corners, and even in a tile shower like this one, the shower pan is often fiberglass. Unfortunately, this is considered normal wear and tear for fiberglass, which is why people often upgrade to tile or acrylic when they replace it.

With all the boards in place, the last step is painting it! Since some of the existing boards already had paint on them, we took some extra time to pressure wash the whole deck. This helps get rid of any chipping paint and loose splinters so that the paint will go on smoothly and look great!
