Take a look at your tub or shower to see if you have any of these signs of wear and tear.
This tub has a couple different issues:
1. Those black dots are little holes in the tub.
2. The darker colored spot is a fiberglass patch kit that yellowed over time. These patches are meant to be a quick fix, not a long-term solution.
3. The dark spot above the patch is a wear spot. The gel coat is completely worn off, exposing the fiberglass base underneath.

The cause: A shampoo bottle fell off the shelf and cracked the bottom of the tub.

This is why it's important to have an impact resistant product for your new tub or shower.

Take a look at your bath! These little black dots seem harmless, but they're actually little holes. The customer had to cover it with packing tape to keep it from leaking into the subfloor. If they hadn't been so proactive about getting their tub replaced, it could have caused significant water damage and potentially mold issues.
