Grow a piece of history. We have divisions of the original plant of Sarracenia x UNC Dixie Lace. This hybrid was created by the acclaimed botonist Larry Mellichamp in 1988 but selected as a cultivar in 1993. Female parent is a natural hybrid between Sarracenia leucophylla and S. alabamensis subsp. wherryi and the male is a hybrid of Sarracenia psittacina and likely S. purpurea ( S. X Snorkle). The large plant in flower is over 10 years old; magnificent specimen! Check out our live sale on facebook for more great hybrids. ( UNC refers to University of North Carolina)

John Kucko has been most generous with his time and talents on our behalf regarding our lotus collection and LotusFest. The entire team at Bergen Water Gardens is praying for successful results from his surgery and a speedy and complete recovery. His page is followed by over 700,000 people around the world! I still remember his first visit to Bergen Water Gardens; his excitement, enthusiasm and energy, even in the pouring rain!

This is the hardest post I’ve ever written. Tuesday in the early morning—just as I had captured one of the most beautiful rainbows I’ve ever seen at Letchworth State Park (pictured)—I left home for the Rochester area. And in the blink of an eye, my life changed. In Henrietta, on 390 North, I had a seizure and had a bad accident. Thank God nobody was injured and thank God the law enforcement were ok and retrieved me from my car. I am thankful for the EMS to load me up and get me to the hospital. Long story short, I’ve got a brain tumor of some sort—need a surgery fairly soon, but not before our youngest daughter Caroline is wedding Saturday with her high school sweetheart Max. Needless to say, I will be scaling back my page indefinitely as I attend to pressing needs—I’ve got the absolute greatest working the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital. I will not drive for a year at least—thankfully got thousands of videos and images to spread out. Tuesday was the very first in six years that I never posted my “60 Seconds of Serenity” offering since COVID arrived six years ago. I am receiving any and all prayers and goodwills in the coming weeks. I’ve been the blessed ever and have a wonderful family behind me. I’m determined to challenge this as much as I can. And thank you for all of me for continued support! ❤️

Bergen Water Gardens will be open limited hours for now. Friday thru Sunday 10 till 5. We will be closed Monday thru Thursday. It was great to see everyone last weekend as we know the greenhouses are popular to visit. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are open Saturday and Sunday 10 till 5 this weekend. It is still too COLD to put out new pond fish. Our water temperatures are only 54 F, with cold air returning early next week. Continue to feed cold weather food to your fish for at least another week. Tropical pond plants are still risky. Hardy waterlilies should be fine. We do have a great selection of orchids in our warm greenhouses! Still cleaning up the store but we know customers are anxious to visit.
