Market season is here! My first market is in a week, and I hope to see some familiar faces! I’ll be slinging sourdough goodies sweet and savory all season long. With some exciting new flavors! My first market at Westside I will have a handpicked selection of annual peppers & tomatoes! 🍅 🌶️🫑

Fall is officially here and that means it’s time to get our garlic in the soil! I follow a few steps when planting out garlic:

1. Sterilize and fertilize before planting. First I soak all cloves in a solution with alcohol, isopropyl, or hydrogen peroxide for about 15-30 minutes. I then dump the liquids. Then fertilize the same cloves with a solution of kelp meal, fish emulsion, or Keene garlic fertilizer. I do this for 1 hour up to 3 days (the longer you fertilize the more root growth).
2. Pick where you want to plant your garlic! Your garlic needs approximately a 4-6” radius and 2-5” in planting depth.
3. Plant your garlic!
4. The final step is to cover with your choice of mulch!

As the seasons shift we are going into my favorite, garlic season. I am excited to be partnering with this year. I received a box of beautiful heads of garlic ready to be planted in my zone 6 garden! But don’t fret there is still time to snag a box of your own. Check out their website to see the incredible heirloom varieties they still have available! In my box I received:
Inchelium Red- softneck, artichoke
Chesnok Red- purple stripe, hardneck
Zemo- Porcelain, hardneck
Purple Glazer- glazed purple stripe, hardneck
