At the corner of Gilbert and Elsinore, WCPO 9—with the help of Brandon Reynolds (Bee the Keeper)—installed a native pollinator garden to provide additional color to the historic Elsinore Tower. Coneflowers (Echinacea), blazing star (Liatris) and black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia) color the busy intersection purple and yellow, properly accenting the Norman Romanesque Revival architecture of the Elsinore Water Castle.

Brandon sources these plants from Keystone Flora Native Plant Nursery, Cincinnati Nature Center and the CGC, all of which will be selling plants at our Fall Native Plant Festival on September 9! (https://civicgardencenter.org/fall-native-plant-festival)

And—this is just a year after planting! Seeing these native plants have such growth and impact in the space speaks to their resilience, abundance, and ability to support a thriving ecosystem right within our urban setting.
