The carnage begins.
Looks like I need to get more early flowering plants around the garden to attract parasitic wasps. When you see damage like this or notice greenish black blobs on a leaf it is time to hunt for hornworms. They blend right in with the plant. Transfer them to other sacrificial plants so they can either become a beneficial pollinator or possibly become a host for the future parasitic wasps that will protect your garden as seen in the third photo. Don’t disturb them if you find them in this state, they are no longer a threat.
