3. Marigolds – Contain pyrethrum, an ingredient contained in most bug repellents.
4. Basil – Its strong smell deters the mosquitoes and flies.
5. Mint – The menthol in it wards off mosquitoes.
6. Catnip – Contains nepetalactone, which is more effective than DEET in some studies.
7. Rosemary – Piney scent repels mosquitoes, moths, and flies.
8. Geranium (especially scented varieties like lemon-scented) – Also effective due to citronellal content.
