Large tile or small tile? Both make a good shower. They just suit different rooms.

Large format: fewer grout lines to clean and big, calm surfaces. It needs very flat walls to sit right.

Small tile and mosaic: it follows the slope of a shower floor and brings more pattern and texture, with more grout lines to keep clean.

Left: a vetted local pro's job. Right: a design rendering, not a real job.

A pebble floor that feels good underfoot, a niche that runs the whole wall, and a tiled bench to sit on.

Niche or no niche in your next shower?

Save this before you sign anything.

Five things that should slow you down with any contractor:
1. They will not put a license or registration number in writing.
2. They want a big deposit before there is a plan on paper.
3. The quote is one number with nothing broken out.
4. They cannot show you finished jobs like yours.
5. They push you to sign today.

A good pro is happy to answer every one of these.

Which one have you run into?

Same bathroom. The pink tub and the sliding doors came out. A walk in shower with marble subway tile, a recessed niche and a black and white mosaic floor went in.

No more climbing over a tub wall to take a shower.

Who in your house would notice this change first?

A brass cage shower in its own glass enclosure, a clawfoot tub beside it, marble on the walls, and the original wood door left right where it was.

Getting a remodel quote should not mean a two hour phone call after dinner.

Here is how it works with FKB Pros:
1. Fill out a short form.
2. You get a quick text with a couple of questions, and you send a few photos.
3. You get a rendering of the new space and an initial offer with two ranges.
4. If you like what you see, you meet the vetted local pro in person. If not, that is the end of it.

Honey oak, almond counters, a fluorescent box on the ceiling. A lot of kitchens still look like this, and plenty of them do not need a full gut.

Three questions sort it out:
1. Are the boxes solid? If they are, new doors, drawer fronts and hardware change most of what you see.
2. Do you like the layout? If the sink, range and fridge are where you want them, refacing keeps all of that.
3. Is anything failing? Water damage, sagging shelves or a layout change usually means replacing.

Image is an illustration, not a real job.

Which way is your kitchen leaning, reface or replace?

Same kitchen, same vaulted ceiling.

The bottom photo is the kitchen as it was: old wood cabinets, a wall oven and years of wear. The top is the finished room: white shaker cabinets, a long island with room to work, and stainless appliances.
