MDE School Garden

MDE School Garden At Mount Diablo Elementary, MDE School Garden,we're creating learning gardens that grow successful students. The MDE school garden was founded in May 2016.

Since the fall of 2017, our garden has been used to teach Next Generation Science standards, environmental education and nutrition. Students eat the produce they grow, learn to compost, and have fun playing in the dirt as they get hands-on experience with growing plants from seed. Join us at our garden! Cactus 🌵 Kellie welcomed students back to the garden this week and the joy is contagious. Despite all the construction over the summer, Kellie kept the garden well maintained. The corn, tomatoes, peppers, and sunflowers are thriving and there is so much to taste and explore!

Thank you MDUSD irrigation team! The MDE garden sprung a leak and Charles Wolfkill and Armand Anderson were on site in less than an hour. Charles set up the original bluetooth drip system for the MDE garden in 2016 and his crew installed a brand new one today. Now the drip system can be controlled entirely through a phone app, making it easy to adjust by season. It’s partnerships like these that create sustainable school gardens! Mt.
