Thank you so, so much to everyone who came out to support our flower farmer collective's Spring Market this morning, especially with the rainy weather! It was wonderful to meet so many flower fans! Seeing such a variety of offerings from each member of the group just further reinforced our philosophy of collaborating rather than competing with each other. We can't wait to see you again!

Pictured: a beautiful peony I bought from to play with in the freeze dryer. Update to come soon when the rest of the bunch fully opens! I can't wait to see how they turn out!

I'm so happy with how this turned out! Two years ago I bought a freeze dryer to preserve my garden harvest, but also because I wanted to experiment with freeze drying flowers compared to other methods. These zinnias are TWO YEARS OLD. I wanted to hold onto them for a while before using them to see how they would hold up over time. With no sprays or special treatment, they look as fresh as the day I picked them! I do keep them in a jar and recommend customers find a place for them that is out of direct sunlight since the colors will fade with light exposure over time. I am arranging them into shadow box bouquets like this, each will have a small dessicant packet hidden behind the backing just as a precaution.

I will have a small amount of these available at my flower farmer collective's Spring Market this Saturday at from 10-2. Come out to meet your local flower farmers and shop fresh flowers, seedlings, and flower-related art and crafts along with goodies from and to treat yourself or maybe pick up something for mother's day!

Do I have any friends with goats who will eat poison ivy and thorny w**ds/brambles? This is the back of my garden. It USED to have about a 3ft gap between the asparagus bed and the "wild area" that started behind that metal box. Well, the wild area did its thing and reclaimed not only that gap, but also my entire asparagus bed, and it's heading towards my willow patch and greenhouse site. I don't know how to handle it because there are dangerous plants all woven in there with vines running under the mulch, so I can't just hack at it with a w**d whacker. Since it's growing OVER my food (that I really want to keep, it has been growing for four years and is producing nice thick tender stalks) I don't want to spray anything. The only thing I can think of is getting some goats to come eat it all to push it back to the boundary so I can start from square 1 and try to just maintain that border.

Open to alternative ideas or goat buffets.
