🔎 Have Dura-PEX piping in your home?

The pipe shown in this photo is CPI / NIBCO Dura-PEX, a brand commonly installed in homes built between the late 1990s and early 2010s.

Over the years, plumbers across the country have seen issues develop with certain Dura-PEX systems — especially:

• Pinhole leaks
• Cracking or splitting along the pipe
• Failures on the hot water lines
• Leaks starting closest to the water heater

Why does this happen?

Hot water accelerates chemical reactions, and chlorinated municipal water can contribute to oxidative breakdown over time. The section of pipe nearest the heater sees the highest temperature and stress — making it a common early failure point.
