I have been sitting with some questions for our roundtable panelist as we explore the journey of local root workers, herbalist and holistic practitioners of the Afrikan Diaspora for tomorrow Juneteenth celebration.

I am feeling charged for this conversation.

The fermented watermelon rind is ready, Bissap beverage for our tea mediation is being created by and I’ll be harvesting fresh mugwort for bundle making.

Spirit is unearthing so much history buried in the soil about the journey of Black healers in this country my mouth is watering.

We get started at 5 ish tomorrow. .

Why did benne seed choose me to grow them?

Each summer they grace my garden with the presence of strength reminding me how they got here.

Ancestor gardens are healing plots of deep wisdom. They are not plant babies they are ancestors spirits; elders on a sacred mission.

They are extensions from the home land they originated and all the places they traveled on their journeys.

Seed wisdom

Seed carriers are sacred individuals who hold deep medicine….. thank you for your service. I know it is not easy.

Look forward to those who can come to the Juneteenth Plant Experience on this Friday June 19th, as we root in liberation and celebrate.

My body’s waterways felt a bit sluggish…

Morning plant infusion: calendula blooms, fl mullein, aster leaves and mint

Remembering Great Grandma. I can see her picking picking flowers from the trail. I can feel her having conversations with each petal.

I can small the Virginia air through her nose to mine.
