On June 17, 2019, Officer Greg Sammon was struck down by a speeding motorist while escorting an over-sized load on his police motorcycle. He sustained numerous injuries in the crash and continues therapy on his road to recovery. He remains optimistic and is encouraged by the outpouring of support by the Police Department, his church, friends, family, and community.
Officer Greg Sammon of the Roman Forest Police Department is a man who loves his family and community. He celebrates 24 years of marriage this year, has 3 wonderful children, and enjoys playing with his 3 grandchildren every chance he gets. Officer Sammon has made a career of investing in our community through his role as a police officer.
He began his career in 1986 by attending the University of Houston Police Academy. Promptly hired by the Humble Police Department, he served his community until retirement in 2015. During his tenure, he wore many hats, including patrolman, bicycles officer, motorcycle officer, fi****ms instructor, and SWAT Sniper Team Leader and Commander. Notable accomplishments include receiving Officer of the Year through Humble Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Houston Area 100 Club Award. After retiring, Officer Sammon was commissioned through the Roman Forest Police Department where he acts as Fi****ms Instructor, and returned to riding his motorcycle professionally.
