Welcome to the DS Architecture Team, Adam Rosekelly!
-
Adam will be joining DS Architecture as a Senior Project Manager and Studio Director. Adam grew up in the small town of Norwalk, OH. He was active in sports, but always had a passion for building, art, and making things. He knew from a young age that Architecture was something he wanted to pursue. He felt like his childhood building blocks and toys didn’t allow him to express the forms and shapes in his head. He found Kent State University’s School of Architecture and Urban Design to be the perfect launchpad and testing ground to further explore these concepts. Adam was later afforded the opportunity at Kents’ program to continue his passion for experimentation through teaching design studio.
-
Entering the profession at a time when digital modeling and rendering software were in their infancy, Adam was captivated by the potential. He pursued a master’s degree in digital technology at University of Michigan’s Taubman College, testing ideas through both new digital methods and fabrication techniques, such as robotics and parametric design. Shortly after obtaining this degree, he established his own firm, Architecture Office. Throughout his career, he has always pushed boundaries influenced by both analog and digital worlds. He remains inspired and influenced by music, art, technology, and building tectonics and is looking forward to exploring these ideas as part of a larger team at DS Architecture.

FDIC Conference
-
Each year, FDIC International serves as one of the premier gathering points for the fire service industry, bringing together tens of thousands of firefighters, chiefs, manufacturers, trainers, and public safety professionals from across the world, where emerging technologies, operational strategies, and training philosophies are tested, discussed, and refined before they become mainstream practice.
-
For DS Architecture, participation in FDIC is an important part of our commitment to thought leadership within the public safety design industry. As designers of fire stations and public safety facilities, it is critical that we remain directly engaged with the evolving needs of the fire service, not from a distance, but at the ground level alongside the professionals using these tools and systems every day.
-
From apparatus advancements and turnout gear innovations to live fire training demonstrations, extrication technologies, decontamination strategies, and evolving operational workflows, the conference provides invaluable insight into the future direction of the industry. The fire service continues to evolve rapidly, and the built environment must evolve with it. By learning directly from industry-leading experts, manufacturers, trainers, and department leadership, we are better positioned to design facilities that support firefighter health and safety, operational efficiency, adaptability, and long-term resiliency.
-
At DS Architecture, we believe future-focused design begins with listening, learning, and leading through engagement. FDIC remains one of the most important places in the industry to do exactly that.

ODNR Appalachian Hills Wildlife Center Ribbon Cutting
-
Last Friday, our team traveled south to visit the brand new Appalachian Hills Wildlife Center, a project DS Architecture was proud to be a part of. It was an action-packed morning We also got to help celebrate “Hornaday” the bull’s birthday alongside Governor Mike DeWine and local schoolchildren who will enjoy this space for years to come. The ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorated the opening of the Appalachian Hills Wildlife Area Visitor Center and a new campground and cabins at nearby Jesse Owens State Park.
-
Not only is the Appalachian Hills Wildlife Center home to countless birds, bass, and deer, but it is also now home to bison. These spectacular large mammals, a native species that was once found in the wild across Ohio two-hundred years ago can be viewed from a covered, open-air deck, or from the 360-degree scenic ramp. While bison no longer roam freely in the wild, the Appalachian Hills herd is a symbol of conservation.
-
The visitor center is a two story timber structure designed to reflect the history and character of the Appalachian region. Expansive floor to ceiling glazing frames panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, creating a strong visual connection between the building and its site. Inside, a large scale topographic map illustrates the unglaciated terrain of Ohio, underscoring the region’s unique geography and recreational potential. Interactive interpretive elements are integrated throughout the space, using architecture as a platform to tell the story of the area’s wildlife, forests, and ongoing conservation efforts.
-
This project was an incredibly rewarding journey for the DS Architecture team, made even more meaningful through the collaboration and expertise of Osborn Engineering and Deru Landscape Architecture. Working alongside such talented partners helped transform a shared vision into a place that will educate, inspire, and connect people to the landscape for years to come.

Earth Day
-
At DS Architecture, sustainability is at the core of how we design. This Earth Day, we’re highlighting five ways architects and designers can embed sustainable practices into their work and help move the world one inch closer to good!
-
1. Adaptive Re-use: Breathing new life into existing structures is the ultimate form of recycling, significantly reducing the carbon footprint by preserving the embodied energy of the original materials. It allows us to honor a site's history while preventing the environmental degradation associated with new demolition and construction.
-
2. Passive Environmental Design: By optimizing building orientation and utilizing natural airflow, we can drastically reduce a structure's reliance on mechanical heating and cooling systems. This "low-tech" approach leverages the sun and wind to maintain thermal comfort, leading to permanent energy savings over the building's lifecycle.
-
3. Local Sourcing: Selecting materials manufactured or harvested nearby minimizes the carbon emissions associated with long-distance transportation. This practice not only reduces the project's overall energy intensity but also strengthens the local economy and ensures materials are better suited to the regional climate.
-
4. Native Landscaping: Specifying plants that are indigenous to the region supports local biodiversity and eliminates the need for chemical fertilizers or supplemental irrigation. These resilient landscapes manage stormwater more effectively and create a "sense of place" that connects the project to its natural ecosystem.
-
5. Natural Non-Toxic Finish: Prioritizing materials like Low-VOC paints, natural oils, and mineral-based finishes, and non-plastics ensures a healthier indoor environment by eliminating the off-gassing of harmful chemicals. These choices protect the long-term well-being of the building's occupants while reducing the environmental toxins released during the manufacturing process.

We’re excited to share that DS Architecture has earned the AIA Ohio Early Professionals Friendly Firm Plus designation for the second year in a row.
-
This award reflects the intentional energy we put into creating a space where everyone, not just our emerging talent, can thrive. We’ve always believed that a healthy balanced office is the foundation for the creativity we need to do our best work. When our team feels supported and empowered to grow, design follows.

Happy Easter!
-
Easter represents renewal, light, and the quiet return of color after winter’s pause. This mood board interprets Easter through the language of interior design — soft palettes, layered textures, and organic materials that mirror the season’s sense of awakening.
-
Muted pastels, sunlit yellows, dusty roses, and airy blues echo the colors of early spring landscapes, while natural woods and woven textiles ground the palette with warmth and familiarity. Textured tiles and tactile fabrics introduce dimension, reflecting the way new growth and movement return to the world this time of year.
-
Together, these elements create a space that feels fresh, optimistic, and gently playful — capturing the essence of Easter as a celebration of new beginnings, lightness, and life returning to our surroundings.

WAIA - The Women Shaping the Built Environment
-
Last night, we were honored to have our very own Natalie Matteucci represent us as a panelist at the WIA+ Cleveland Annual Celebration. The evening was a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and impact of women in the AEC industry. Surrounded by an incredible community and with strong support from the DS Architecture team, we celebrated not only how far women have come, but the barriers we continue to break and the future we are actively shaping. Thank you to Kirsten Gatewood and Amonett Design Studio for hosting!
-
Together, we are elevating voices, creating opportunities, and paving the way for the next generation of women in the AEC industry. We are proud to stand alongside such inspiring leaders and changemakers.
