Our meeting was held at the Independence Public Library on this crisp and sunny Fall Day. Our speaker was Daniel White who is the Show Coordinator for the Cleveland Bonsai Club, a member of the Midwest Bonsai Club, and a board member of the American Bonsai Society.
A huge thank you goes out to Dan who gave a very informative talk on how to grow and care for Bonsai. He brough several plants from his personal collection that were spectacular. You can visit Dan's website at: https://www.blackriverbonsai.com/about/
After the talk, we had our business meeting....then wrapped up the afternoon with our members plant show and tell. We asked our members to bring in a succulent that could be used as a bonsai.
One member’s succulent bonsai stood out. Mark Langan, who owns Mulberry Creek Herb Farm, brought in some beautiful specimens (see photos).
It looks like this month’s meeting inspired quite a few members to try their hand at bonsai in one form or another.
Our next meeting will be held at the Cleveland Botanical Garden (in the Smith Classroom) at 1pm on November 15th. The presentation/talk will be a panel discussion about the pots/containers we use for our succulents along with plant care.
If you'd like to share a succulent you've trained into a Bonsai form, you can comment here OR head over to our FB Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/mwcss to share your collection!
