Simply You: Organizing to Simplify Your Life

Simply You: Organizing to Simplify Your Life Clutter doesn't have to dominate your life. Add space to breathe & peace of mind by creating a space that works with you, not against you.

People lose hours of our lives each week to clutter. It FEELS insurmountable, but it's not. Thinking you have too much stuff, too small of a house, not enough storage space - these are all symptoms of not having a system in place. Think about how much time you lose each and every day to: not finding something you're looking for, trying to find someplace to PUT something that doesn't have a home, c

leaning up the same mess over and over - and the increased stress you withstand every single day as a result. Most of us look at the flow of our house or office and know that "if only I could just do..." that it would be SO much easier to keep on top of everything. But, the fact is that if we KNEW how to tackle it... we probably would have done so already. So, we end up feeling trapped by what we *perceive* to be an insurmountable task. But, as it turns out, with help from an experienced, professional organizer, even the most unruly of spaces can be transformed into an organized, peaceful, functional space. With less time than you think. You wouldn't generally ask your dentist to perform heart surgery; similarly, a professional organizer is very different than a cleaning service that "cleans and organizes". Take a look through our gallery, FAQ's, or just message us - you might be amazed at what can be accomplished in less time than you think. Our first consultation is always free.

Do you ask for help?
I’m one to try and do it all myself.
When it comes to getting organized, many need help. Don’t be ashamed, many people struggle to keep order and cull belongings.
Find a friend with the same goal and trade time helping each other. Or talk with a friend or family member while doing it.
Or, enlist a professional organizer like me. Whatever you choose, come to terms with asking for help.
There are many things we don’t know how to do, that is why people and businesses specialize in them!

Prioritize your to-do's. They are not all urgent.

The Eisenhower Matrix is super helpful in categorizing.
Give it a try to really identify what you should be working on.

Our interests, hobbies and likes change.
If you've started buying things in new areas and styles, gather up the things you won't be using anymore or decorative things that don't fit your style and let them go.
That way, you'll have room for the current things and the new stylistic pieces will shine!

Too often we save "special" things for a "special" time.
Life is special enough, go ahead and use them!

A client recently told me how in their new RV they are using her mother's quilts on the bed - her mother had them for 50 years and never used them. What a great way to use a memory item!

A play on a Gretchen Rubin’s quote…

The best time to deal with clutter is 40 years ago, the next best time is today!

Put something in the recycling…

Start a donation box and put one thing in to get it started…

Put something in the trash that really just needs to go…

Happy 🌍 World Organizing Day! Today, I'm celebrating by helping 2 clients organize today! Doing what I do best, helping others with their things.

How are you getting organized today?
Pick one surface and declutter it for an instant visual sigh.

From Gretchen Rubin email:

Beware of an accidental stockpile -

It can be easy to fall into the trap of stockpiling potentially useful items, like glass jars, mugs, notebooks, tote bags, or t-shirts. If you’ve accumulated a stockpile, decide how many of that item you realistically need, then donate, recycle, or toss the rest.

This week I challenge you to go through one box/bin or drawer that you have been putting off. You'll be happy you did!

It may seem silly, but schedule or put on your to-do list the small tasks that take 5 minutes.

Scheduling makes you successful. It also feels good to check off something even if small!

Examples - change lightbulbs in dining room, write note to friend, gather up last bits of holiday decorations, empty the magazine holder.
