Some parts of the garden are really starting to takeoff right now. We got a little bit of a late start, but we're all planted out for for the summer. Every bed is filled with seeds that are sprouting or starts. Within a couple of weeks it will really be popping.

I finally got a spring turkey for the year. Ethan took his first shot at a turkey before I got this one and missed. He was nervous, but he’s happy that we got one and that we have a chance to try again next week for him and Elie. It’s awesome being on the Western Slope of Colorado and getting to hunt and fish for so many different types of animals.

Here is how you can harvest root crops all winter and in the spring when most people haven't even started planting their garden for the season. I do this in the high desert in Western Colorado and have food all four seasons of the year.

The power is out and I couldn't be more excited. Lol.

I use this small power system for camping and other random things. It's keeping my refrigerator on with the power out. This works in a short term emergency until we get a bigger system that can run our whole house when the power is out or to get us all the way off grid. It was about $400. Being prepared is way cool.
