This THT is a reminder that everything is connected, and to show this, we’re exploring the hidden life beneath our feet, the Wood Wide Web.

Fungi and tree roots work together in an underground network that helps forests share resources, warn each other of stress, and keep eco systems thriving

The first siphon test was unsuccessful, here’s why⬇️

I want to show the successes and setbacks of this whole process, and this was the first of many setbacks to come.

A siphon works by using gravity and pressure differences to move water from a higher point to a lower point without a pump.

Here’s the simple breakdown:
1. You fill the tube completely with water (no air gaps).
2. One end sits in a higher water source, the other end drains to a lower level.
3. Gravity pulls the water down the lower end, creating a continuous flow.
4. As water moves down, it creates a slight vacuum that pulls more water from the higher end, so the flow keeps going on its own.

However, my siphon didn’t end up working. This is because there wasn’t a tight enough air vacuum to keep the water pushing up and through the siphon.

Back to the drawing board I go!

This Think Green Thursday, let’s take a moment to appreciate the forests, the planet’s quiet climate engines.

They pull carbon from the air, store it safely in their roots and soil, and keep our atmosphere
balanced. Protecting forests isn’t just about saving trees it’s about saving our future.
