Weeds are inevitable in the garden, but use mulch properly and you will significantly reduce their numbers. With a layer of mulch covering your garden soil, the w**d seeds lurking there won’t receive the light they need to germinate, and mulch can block the seeds which blow in on the wind from reaching soil and taking root.

Take root cuttings from your cold-sensitive perennials. Plant them in pots and keep them indoors; you can use these to replace any plants that are killed during the winter.

Ray, with already prior years with his experience and education backgrounds starting in 1984, came to Wilmington in ‘96 to simply work for a well established landscape company working prior in the landscape construction and ground maintenance and management industry, both in north east and mid west. His further education was attained whilst hands on and studies with soil science, horticulture, arborculture, agronomics, engineering and drafting & designing and more at three universities all while maintaining a work ethic in which to put himself through those schools and courses over a 12 year period of time.
Once in Wilmington, Ray sought out attaining a position with a reputable and professional company in which to further himself and enjoy a growing town. After submitting over 45 resumes, 37 interviews, being turned down for being over qualified, and during all had performed “side jobs” of designing and building hardscapes and gardens from referral after referral, and stocking shelves on the graveyard shifts to support his family, had but one offer from a local landscape company and it’s owner, a well known Landscape designer. He accepted that opportunity acquired more knowledge and expertise in designing with them, and not only spent more in educating himself to the southeast and coastal environment and industry, provided training, management, design and his expertise to assist that company to further progress itself for many years thereafter. That one company, and now dear friend, one afternoon after being in the field all day, discussed the day and life ahead, sitting amidst the large diameter branches of a Live Oak tree in his business’s yard, convinced Ray to form and come up with names such as “The Gardens Gate” or what became and soon to become known shortly thereafter as Outdoor Creations in 2001. And in 2006, became incorporated as Outdoor Creations Landscape & Design, Inc. as the company it is now. His intention is to provide a well diversified service in which to provide clients and customers with the best of service and one stop management all with the best in placing attentions to every detail after spending much time listening to others and their concerns with having challenges with many providers and directions.

At that point you’ve “inherited the earth”. Blessed are the patient people, blessed are the persistent. They shall ultimately win.”

Outdoor Creations Landscape & Design, Inc not only seeks to have a reputation for quality, commitment and integrity through Ray and his dedicated staff efforts , provides a diversified, professional and reliable service, set around his background, and consults for such and is a certified and licensed contractor thru the state of North Carolina and continues to maintain such.
Ray also enjoys the potentials and opportunities to contribute to the local community for the last 20 years and has spent nearly 11 years with our wonderful North Carolina Azalea Festival, serving with the parade and eventually becoming Chairman, directing and coordinating with a committee of nine persons which took up about 10 months of the year to plan and present to our wonderful Wilmington and the community as well as visitors form all over the country. He is proudly serving on the Board of directors for Airlie Gardens and the New Hanover County Zoning Board of Adjustments for second terms.

finding other resources for themselves in which to further their own knowledge throughout each fiscal year, therefore providing one of the best known professional, reliable, quality and detailed minded services in this industry. We are a fully licensed, insured, and certified professional service located here in wonderful Wilmington and the New Hanover County, Brunswick county and surrounding areas. We're located on 37 Covil Ave. right here in Wilmington, NC, just south of the Market St. intersection.
