A bit of the thoughts that went into this project because it was a joint visit with dignitaries from Japan and Washington. The paver path has is split in half by a differing type of paver running the center line, but now the two sides are running in unity together.
The plants are from native selections of both American and Japanese heritage.
There is a Japanese Zen garden and traditional American design brought together in the plan.
The 3 reflecting bowls of water are Zen in nature and face the direction of the U Building where the uranium and plutonium were refined for the bombs. This building has been torn down to make ready the land for a new purpose. The bowls were to provide a point of direct reflection on the past while looking to the future.
The bubbling rock with its sound is typical mountain stream and standard in many American landscapes. The two styles of water features together were to represent unity and diversity with the same element of water. The pump is solar powered as well bringing the atomic energy of the sun and converting it to the peaceful sound and touch of flowing water. I cut and built the stone bench, plaque mount monument, and drilled the 30" stone for the water feature.

I probably had the most fun with the stone work😁
