I looked up what was recommended for leggy bergamot when I saw my bergamot was finally blooming, but so leggy!! An article I found was talking about not just dead heading out but actually cutting about 1/3 off to encourage more bushiness. In these pictures are a few that I cut, low enough to include a lower leaf node and pulled off the bottom leaves and stuck them into the same container the tall ones are growing in, I hope that out starts bushing out some to make a nice bunch of flowers for the bees and hummingbirds. I left most of the flowers attached to the taller ones, so I didn’t feel like I was killing them all, total experiment, I guess we’ll see!! Everything got water recently when a surprise storm came through, I mean it’s was in the forecast, but still was a surprise to get so much lightening and thunder, I LOVED getting the rain though and I’m sure all the plants did too. Unfortunately I have barely been able to get to the yard, I’ve been physically exhausted after waking up with a crick in my upper neck/shoulder area. It’s isn’t completely gone yet butt I think my body is working hard to heal. I’ll love to get stairs from the deck to the back yard, and/or even a pulley or even an elevator I’ve heard of that lowers people in wheelchairs from second story decks, any of that would be amazing for getting stuff and/or myself up to or down from the second story deck. Another plant on deck thing I did was bring some of my dry/neglected plants out into the rain so they got deeply watered. These plants are in the last picture on this post. It’s a nice sunny day today, almost too hot for bare feet on the deck, but there’s enough shade to only get a little bit of there too hot parts under my feet.
