I love it branches and sticks I scavenged thrive!! This is a willow tree, a bunch of the cuttings were headed for the dump (or compost?) and I asked if I could take some, this thick one I had so many roots!! Now where to put it…

I looked up what was recommended for leggy bergamot when I saw my bergamot was finally blooming, but so leggy!! An article I found was talking about not just dead heading out but actually cutting about 1/3 off to encourage more bushiness. In these pictures are a few that I cut, low enough to include a lower leaf node and pulled off the bottom leaves and stuck them into the same container the tall ones are growing in, I hope that out starts bushing out some to make a nice bunch of flowers for the bees and hummingbirds. I left most of the flowers attached to the taller ones, so I didn’t feel like I was killing them all, total experiment, I guess we’ll see!! Everything got water recently when a surprise storm came through, I mean it’s was in the forecast, but still was a surprise to get so much lightening and thunder, I LOVED getting the rain though and I’m sure all the plants did too. Unfortunately I have barely been able to get to the yard, I’ve been physically exhausted after waking up with a crick in my upper neck/shoulder area. It’s isn’t completely gone yet butt I think my body is working hard to heal. I’ll love to get stairs from the deck to the back yard, and/or even a pulley or even an elevator I’ve heard of that lowers people in wheelchairs from second story decks, any of that would be amazing for getting stuff and/or myself up to or down from the second story deck. Another plant on deck thing I did was bring some of my dry/neglected plants out into the rain so they got deeply watered. These plants are in the last picture on this post. It’s a nice sunny day today, almost too hot for bare feet on the deck, but there’s enough shade to only get a little bit of there too hot parts under my feet.

It's a good day to kill your lawn. Or at least to pick a spot and replace it with some native plants 🌿🌻

I forget which kind of balm I planted, I have seeds for a few different kinds, but I’ve been waiting for awhile for it to bloom at all! I’m sitting on the porch right note and heard a humming bird, I want fast enough with the camera, but it was sipping from these flowers!! I’m so SO happy any flowers happened at all… pictures are my view and then zoomed in to see the flowers as much as possible…I hope the sun/ heat that is coming this week helps out flourish more!! I might add some compost to the pot…for good luck. 😉

I had this great, (read “horrible”) idea to try and plant part of a tomato, when I know we weren’t going to use anymore, and omg those seeds are like “yay!! Let me grow!!” (see picture) I am trying to put these up in smaller starter pot’s but omg, I don’t have enough, and if they survive, this will have some intense choices. I have TWO pieces of tomato that have resulted in similarly enthusiastic bunches of sprouts…whew!!

Here’s my “wild pot” I think I see fever few, and baby mullein in it and I just added what I think are wild strawberry and some kind of common self heal…I figured they might as well all go together since they are all wild survivors anyway, will be fun to see if any of it thrives!!
