Living through a global pandemic this year, one thing we all realized, is the importance of family and the smaller things in life.
As you begin to think about decorating for holiday 2020, and with some who have undergone some financial challenges, embrace a nostalgic Christmas to evoke those cozy childhood memories.
Red and green are classic Christmas colors and don’t shy away from them. Maybe think of ways to make those colors feel fresh... does your green become more vibrant? Your red more bright?
Think of ways to re-imagine your collections... tell stories...
Do you pull your collection together in a new way or location? Your tinsel tree collection on your mantle or shelf? Your vintage balls (that used to belong to grandma) in a beautiful clear glass vase for the center of your table?
If not at any other time... the holidays is a great time to bring the outdoors indoors (greens, berries, branches, etc.). Nothing says holiday more than the beautiful smell of greens inside during the holidays.
Can you incorporate Pantone’s color of the year (classic blue). It pairs really nicely with white, silver and gold. Fresh green wreath with white lights, silver and blue balls.
According to Pinterest adorning your front door is a big trend for 2020 "Pinners are decorating their front doors to express holiday cheer while staying in, with searches for 'Christmas door decorations' up 125 percent.
Recycle and reuse this holiday... gifts wrapped in craft paper with a red plaid bow or vintage fabric wrapped gifts?
A few more simple ideas to rethink your decor this holiday.
-If your wreath is usually symmetrical... maybe go asymmetrical.
-Hang all of your beautiful Christmas cards your friends and family sent on a wall in the shape of a tree.
-Add new tree skirt... use a beautiful large chunky yarn blanket.
Most importantly have fun and don’t forget to add some glitter to it!!
Happy Holidays!
