Last week’s job: It’s important to properly thin and elevate dense tree canopies. When growth becomes too heavy, even a moderate storm can snap large limbs or bring down the entire tree.

Palm trees aren’t actually “trees.” Unlike oak or pine trees, palms don’t have true wood or growth rings. Instead, they belong to a group of plants called monocots (like grasses), and their trunks are made of tightly packed fibers. This is why you won’t see rings if you cut a palm tree down, and why they bend so well in strong winds without snapping.
