Miller Stauffer Architects, PA Miller Stauffer Architects is based in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and our projects can be seen across Western Montana, North Idaho, and Eastern Washington.

Since MSA’s inception in 1982 the firm has worked on a range of different projects from small home remodels to high dollar mixed use high rises. Miller Stauffer Architect’s project experience has been essential in molding the firms design philosophy to include three main principals:

Through expansive glazing and a heavy-timber trussed roof oriented toward the water, the design dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior. This transparency allows the waterfront landscape to serve as the primary backdrop for the dining experience.

Miller Stauffer Architects is seeking a full-time architectural draftsman to join our downtown Coeur d'Alene firm.
The ideal candidate will have architectural drafting experience and be proficient in AutoCAD and or Revit. The Architectural Drafter will use an architect’s / project manager's instructions to create detailed drawings for buildings and structures.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create full-scale and detailed designs of buildings from an architect’s conceptual drawings and sketches.
• Coordinates with structural, electrical, and mechanical consultants.
• Draws plans, elevations, sections, and details for buildings, and structures based on instructions provided by architects.
• Visits job sites to measure existing conditions that will be used to generate as-built drawings.
• Works with the architect to develop building systems and assemblies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD 2014 or later software.
• Extensive Knowledge of Revit software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Construction knowledge preferred.
Education and Experience:
• Associates degree in Drafting required.
• Three years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of construction sites.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs Schematic Design and Construction Documents; Directs and coordinates consultants; Responsible for adherence to codes and regulations; Monitors schedules and maintains project documentation; Selects, evaluates, and implements procedures and techniques used on projects; Reviews construction documents for accuracy, omissions, constructability, coordination, consistency, legibility and code compliance; provides drawing markups to the team Has client and outside consultant contact; Supervision of technical staff may be required, Performs design computations, data compilation, and varied architectural assignments Balance design goals, client requirements, constructability, and code. Willingness to ask questions for clarification, propose solutions and make decisions Dedication to high-quality deliverables.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Highly developed skills and talent in Sketch-Up modeling, Adobe software, AutoCAD, Revit, and preparation of presentation materials. Excellent problem solver and independent thinker with good listening skills, positive attitude and strong follow-through, Strong verbal and graphic communication, organizational and collaborative skills Ability to think quickly, stay on track, and work independently and in a team environment.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, & CERTIFICATION: Must have a bachelor’s degree in architecture from a NAAB accredited school and a minimum of 3 years of experience. Licensed Architect in the State of Idaho preferred, but not required. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without any restrictions or visa sponsorship. Must be living within an hour of downtown Coeur d’Alene. Miller Stauffer Architects will not pay for moving expenses or housing if the candidate is currently located out of the region. Must have a valid driver’s license. Able to work at a computer for several hours at a time helping the production and management of Architectural Projects.
