What started out as a hobby for owner Jason Paulhamus has now turned into a home business! Bug Eaters and Stony Gap Bonsai is a licensed establishment selling carnivorous plants such as Venus Flytraps, Pitcher Plants, Sundews, Butterworts, etc. I have bonsai material for the beginner to intermediate bonsai artist. Items such as rooted cuttings, starter or prebonsai trees, and styled trees. I also

carry a wide variety of cactus, succulents, and air plants. I also sell my personal soil mixtures for carnivorous plants, bonsai, cactus, and succulents. I've been growing carnivorous plants since 2006 and creating bonsai since 2010. Included with each carnivorous plant or bonsai purchase is a care sheet that will help you keep your plants happy and healthy for a long time.

I have a bad feeling I won't make the Perry County Reptile Market show tomorrow. I woke up really sick this morning. I'm a leukemia survivor and I'm immune compromised now so sometimes when I get sick I really get sick and this seems to be one of those times. If anything changes I'll let everyone know but it's not looking good at this point. Sorry!

It's been kind of a lackluster year so far for the serissa blooming in my greenhouse. Usually they are in full bloom this time of year but only a few have lots of flowers on them. Most have none or very few. Things might be behind this year or the really cold winter effected them I'm not real sure. Anyways this one is blooming nicely. A unique tree as well. Cutting grown by me and it has a unique fused multi-trunk with exposed roots. Only one I've ever had that turned out that way so I've kept a hold of it. I potted it up last year I believe. Probably could use some trimming to shape it up but I'll wait until it's done blooming to do that.

The carnivorous plants are off to a great start this year. Flowers are up and pitchers are coming on strong. Some of them are getting huge. The yellow trumpets in the first pic are almost up to my waist! Flytraps are looking great and I have quite a few in stock but I'm sure they will go fast. I'm basically all done repotting at this point. I usually end up pulling some sundews out of other pots as they pop up throughout the year but other than that I'm finished. Next up bonsai trees.

I moved the carnivorous plants out of the greenhouse on Tuesday. I really wanted them to get rained on yesterday so I didn't have to water them. It's going to be a little chilly tonight yet (mid 40s) but they will be fine. It's really going to warm up starting this weekend looks like. I must say this is the most I've ever had at one time so lots available for sale this year. Not many left in the greenhouse now, some sundews mainly. Lots of room to work and move around in there now!

Found this really nice bromeliad at a local store today and thought I would pick it up. It's common name is Amazonian Zebra Plant. I have a number of bromeliads I've been growing in my critter room and they have been doing well for me. This one is really neat because of the pattern on its' leaves. A lot of them are just plain green. Since it's in bloom it's a mature plant which means it will start to die now but not before forming offshoots kind of like an air plant does. I'm excited to see how that all goes.

The view in the greenhouse now. All done with the pitcher plants. I have some really big pots I didn't do this year but everything else is divided and repotted. Now I'm working on the venus flytraps. Busy busy. I'll be glad when I can get these out for the year I'm really blocking the walkway with all the extra trays.
