***REWARD for information leading to the safe return of Captain.***
2/7/26 UPDATE - On Saturday around noon, a black lab was seen in Essex in the vicinity of Route 15/Jericho Rd, Allen Martin Rd, Saxon Hill Rd. We don’t have confirmation this was Captain, so we’re noting this as another POTENTIAL sighting.
Please keep watching and reporting!
We also welcome any information about black labs that live in that area. 
2/5/26 UPDATE:
On Monday, 2/2 there were several POTENTIAL sightings of Captain near the Sandhill Rd/Allen Martin Rd intersection in Essex.
This was between 5:15-6:15pm.
Please remember to watch your cameras - day AND night.
Report past AND current sightings.
Also monitor hiding spots, such as outbuildings, sheds, porches, etc.
Watch for paw prints in unexpected places - particularly if they look like a dog has been through numerous times and is accessing shelter or food (birdseed, compost, grain, etc.)

1/19/26 UPDATE:
THIS SIGHTING HAS BEEN RULED OUT AS OF 1/25—Captain was spotted not far from the Jericho Market on Monday afternoon around 2:30pm.
1/16/26 UPDATE:
Captain was spotted off Sandhill Road on Saturday morning and then in the Saxonhollow Road area in the afternoon.

Hello- our black lab went missing off of Browns River Rd in Essex around 12:15 this afternoon (1/13/26). His name is Captain and he is very friendly.
He was wearing a BLUE collar when he went missing, but that may have fallen off.
