A lot of tree problems do not look “urgent” at first, and that is exactly why they get missed.
Most of the expensive or dangerous jobs we see started as something small:
a tree leaning a little more than usual, dead limbs hanging over a roof, branches rubbing on the house, or roots starting to affect access and grading. Then one storm, one heavy snow, or one windy day turns it into an emergency.
Here are a few signs a tree may need professional attention sooner than later:
• It is leaning more than it used to
• You see large dead limbs, especially over a roof, driveway, or walkway
• The trunk has a visible crack, split, or hollow area
• Branches are hanging over power lines or touching the home
• The base looks unstable or the roots are lifting
• It drops a lot of limbs during normal weather
One thing a lot of property owners do not realize is this:
“healthy looking” trees can still be dangerous if they are too close to a structure, too heavy on one side, or weakened from past storm damage.
The goal is not to remove every tree. Good land management is about knowing what to keep, what to trim, and what to remove before it causes damage.
If you are unsure, it is worth getting it looked at early. Catching a problem early usually gives you more options, lower cost, and less stress than waiting until it is on the roof or blocking access.
