Our customer in Monticello, yesterday, had a softener but it had stopped working quite awhile ago. They had been experiencing low flow out of nearly every faucet in their home. We replaced their water softener with a new Watco water softener. We cleaned out all of the clogged faucet aerators and replaced one shower head. As you can see by the photos, hard water scale is a serious problem. The shower arm in the photo is completely closed off with scale buildup. This is called a "spin down" or "blow down" filter. This little filter can save you alot of headaches and money. This customer was experiencing clogged filters every couple of days. We installed this filter, upstream of his regular canister filters. Once the screen gets clogged, he can put a bucket below the drain and turn the red valve. This will wash the sediment into the bucket. Once cleaned out, the red valve closed and he's back in operation. This will save him money, time and make it alot easier to deal with in the future. This leak wasn't terribly hard to find. Keaghan and I just beat the downpours on Friday, in Frankfort. We were able to get this leak dug up, repaired and backfilled in less than three hours. Whoever installed this originally, used thin wall poly pipe. That is not necessarily a problem until you go over top of an old galvanized pipe, already in the ground. The poly pipe was pierced by a union on the galvanized pipe. We re-routed the new repaired pipe away from the galvanized. We only use heavy wall poly for underground work and brass/stainless fittings. This will ensure that our customer never has to have their yard dug up again for this type of leak. I have been looking foward to this day since they left. This is a picture of my parents. They are two of the most amazing people I have ever known. I am blessed to call them Mom and Dad! They finally got home from their winter in Florida. I'm so thankful to see them.

Keaghan and I recently had a customer, near Crawfordsville, that had two canister type whole home water filters. Due to the manganese and sediment coming from the well, their filters were clogging every couple of days. We installed a "spin down" type filter with a 60 micron screen. We also replaced their existing softener. The spin down filter will catch the larger particles, making their canister filter cartidges last longer. This screen can be cleaned by turning the red handle valve. This allows customers to flush the sediment, into a bucket, without replacing the screen. Their water pressure is back to where it should be. Now they will save money on filters and have alot less trouble with flow problems. These are some of the pics from the same job as the video, we shared a couple of days ago. We replaced the well pump that had failed, due to an un-maintained pressure tank. We replaced the pipe, wire and fittings, too. This is required by law. We also replaced the vetical type pressure tank, laying on it's side, with a horizontal mount pressure tank. We installed a new tank Tee, pressure switch, gauge, 100lb relief valve, boiler drain valve and whole home shut off valve. Our customer will start saving money off of her electric bill as well. Do you know the condition of your water well?
Keaghan and I were busy today changing a pump that had failed because of a non maintained pressure tank. After we lower the pump, down the well, we always overboard the pump, into a bucket. We do this for a few reasons. First, we do not want any of this manganese and ferric iron to clog your plumbing system and fixtures. Secondly, we use this opportunity to test your well's production rate. Lastly, we do this to re-develop your well. This causes more flow(no back pressure on the pump) which cleans your well screen and carries mineral buildup to the pump. Doing this will allow more flow into the well and better quality water. Water wells are NOT maintenance free. Just like a car's oil is critical, water well maintenance is critical, too.
