Folks be like: looking for recommendations for a reliable licensed and insured company to fix my drywall this week. That won't break the bank.

So much wrong with these expectations, which is why some people ultimately end up unsatisfied.

Rule #1 good, reliable, licensed, insured. Costs money

Why would someone with these qualities charge you the same as someone who doesn't possess these qualities?

Rule #2 your house is more than likely the most expensive thing you own. STOP USING THE CHEAPEST PEOPLE YOU CAN FIND then are "surprised" when you get what you pay for.

Rule #3 plan your project ahead of the time you want it done. Calling a good contractor and expecting him to be able to start immediately is like playing Russian roulette. Good contractors are busy. In addition to that you don't want RUSHED work because you failed to plan.

Rule #4 if you change what you want, move up deadlines, or move items into the work area that will require additional labor or inconvenience EXPECT TO PAY MORE it wasn't magically included if it was never discussed during the estimate.

Rule #5 9/10 licensed GC'S are not coming bid on your small job, if you aren't renovating or have a healthy budget you're beating your head against the wall. You need a handy man.
