My Philodendron Cordatum aka heartleaf philodendron looking gorgeous 😍

It has big bright green leaves that are heart-shaped. It grows like a vine so it looks great as a hanging plant or in a plant table. It likes bright, indirect light preferably an East facing window or set back from a southern facing window. NO direct sunlight. Water when the top inch of soil is dry and water thoroughly so that the water pours from the bottom drain.

Great addition to any plant lovers collection!

It’s been 2 weeks and I see some magic happening 😍

I will be bringing these plants in next week. We are expected to get into the 30s and the holiday cacti won’t survive those temps.

Preparing my holiday cacti to bloom. It’s that time of year where you we’ll start to see the Christmas cactus. However, what many call the Christmas Cactus is really a Thanksgiving Cactus.

There are several ways to tell the difference between the two.

1. The time of year the plant blooms.
2. The leaves… the Thanksgiving Cactus has sharp, pointed leaves while the Christmas Cactus leaves are smooth and round.
3. The type of flower.

Did you know there is a third holiday cacti? It’s the Easter Cactus!

The Easter cactus leaves are smooth and round like the Christmas cactus with the blooms being trumpet shaped and flat.

You can get your holiday cacti to re-bloom. Start these tricks 8 weeks before you want blooms to start.

1. Plant needs a certain amount of hours in darkness about 13-15. Once blooms start, it can be placed back in its normal location.
2. It’s needs cool temps. 55-65 degrees is ideal.
3. Reduce the watering.

I should’ve started this process with my Thanksgiving cactus 2 weeks ago. I will start with my Christmas Cactus in a couple of weeks.

Stay tuned for updates!!

My favorite kind of gifts!

This is a scindapsus pictus aka The Silver Satin Pothos. It isn’t actually related to the pothos but the care is similar and it grows like a pothos.

Lovely addition to the indoor jungle 🪴
