Hey everyone,
We know we’ve been a little quiet lately, and I just wanted to take a moment to be honest with you all.
This past year has been one of the hardest years of my life. Between being displaced from my home, having to relocate many of my animals, dealing with insurance, repairs, stress, and trying to keep The Plant Vault going through it all… it has been overwhelming in ways I can’t fully put into words.
I also want to sincerely apologize if you’ve had an experience with us recently that wasn’t the best it could have been. I take ownership of that. I’m human, I’ve been struggling, and while that doesn’t excuse anything, I do hope it helps give a little more understanding of what has been going on behind the scenes.
Since this month is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, I also want to use this moment to say something important: please check in on your people. Even the strong ones. Even the ones who seem fine. You never truly know what someone is carrying behind closed doors. I’ve unfortunately lost people recently to su***de, and it has been a painful reminder of how important it is to reach out, be kind, and show up for one another.
I also want to be transparent about something. We are honestly doing a lot of soul-searching and rethinking when it comes to The Plant Vault and what our future looks like.
The reality is that support for small businesses has become increasingly difficult, and while we are doing everything we can to keep moving forward, we may not be able to continue operating exactly as we have been. We are exploring new ideas, making changes, and trying to find a path that allows us to continue doing what we love while still keeping the doors open.
This isn’t meant to be a guilt trip or a dramatic farewell post. It’s simply the truth. If you enjoy having us here, if you’ve enjoyed the plants, the animals, the community, or just having a unique local shop to visit, now is the time to support the businesses you want to keep around. Every purchase, every visit, every recommendation to a friend, and every positive review genuinely helps more than most people realize.
One of the directions we’ve been putting more energy into is the reptile side of things. Many of you know that reptiles have been a huge passion of mine for years, and we’ve been expanding our focus on our bearded dragon breeding program and other reptile-related projects. Plants and reptiles go hand-in-hand, and we’re working hard to create something unique that combines both of those passions.
If you’ve ever been interested in adding a bearded dragon to your family, please reach out. We currently have some absolutely beautiful dragons looking for amazing homes, and we’d love to help match you with the right one.
As a thank-you to everyone who continues to support us, we will be offering 10% off your entire purchase throughout the month of June.
We’ve also dealt with our fair share of unfair reviews, trolling, and negativity over the past year. If you’ve had a positive experience with us, we would be incredibly grateful if you’d leave us a Google review. Show us your review in-store and we’ll gladly honor that 10% discount as a thank-you for your support.
Most importantly, please remember to be kind. Life is hard right now for a lot of people. You never know what someone is carrying behind the scenes, whether it’s a friend, a family member, a coworker, or a small business owner trying their best to make it through another day.
Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us through the good times and the difficult ones. Your support means more than you know.
And if you have ideas, suggestions, or feedback about what you’d like to see from The Plant Vault moving forward, we’d genuinely love to hear them.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
