Air conditioner seem like it's not cooling much lately??

It may be that your air conditioner coils need cleaning.

Like this one a few weeks ago, it's an easy home maintenance item to miss but one that can make a HUGE difference.

Nothing like an oddly satisfying gutter clean out!

That being said, soooo many of us forget to do it, and it's especially important with all the rain we've been getting.

When gutters get clogged up, that water has to go somewhere.

Usually that's up into the roof or down against the house where it LOVES to find a basement that just got carpeted.

Have leaf guards? That can sometimes help, but I've also seen a lot of them get clogged with dirt, shingles granules, or other debris and not actually do what they're meant to.

All that said, save yourself a small flood or roof damage and be sure your gutters are clean!

This is your friendly neighborhood home care expert reminding you to change your HVAC filters!

It's recommended that you change these about every 90 days and even more often if your or anyone in your home struggles with allergies.

This picture came from one of my clients homes last week, and as you can see, new filters make a difference! Not only do they help improve air quality but delaying changing filters can make your system run harder and shorten its life span.

Have you checked your dryer vent lately?

Last week I was at a clients home when I noticed their laundry room was incredibly humid. After a little investigation it turned out that their dryer vent was so clogged all of the exhaust was heading into the room rather than outside.

Clogged dryer vents not only cause your dryer to run inefficiently but can also be a huge fire hazard.
