This transformation wasn’t about chasing trends. It was about creating a space that feels lighter, calmer, and more reflective of how my client wants to live.

New furnishings, layered textures, organic tones, and thoughtful styling completely changed the feeling of this room while still honoring the warmth of the home.

Your home should evolve with you. 🤍

Before you pick up a sledgehammer or browse another tile sample, do yourself a favor: Start with a plan. 🏡

Renovations have a million moving parts, but Tip #1 is the only one that ensures the other 9 go smoothly. At AJ Design & Consulting, we handle the heavy lifting of planning so you can actually enjoy the transformation.

This is the level of depth I believe every space deserves.

Michael created this mural for the Edgewood Inn, inspired by prohibition-era wine cellars but what makes it exceptional is the story behind it. A shared Midwest history between artist and client shaped every detail, from the aged brick to the illusion of a hidden corridor.

This is what transforms a space from designed… to unforgettable.

It’s not just about how a home looks, it’s about how it feels, and the story it tells.

If your home told a story, what would it say

I’m often asked what it’s really like to be an interior designer. Spoiler alert: It’s not all mood boards and fabric swatches!
This morning started with a quiet cup of coffee and quickly turned into a “get on-site now” emergency. Here’s how a potential disaster turned into a major win, thanks to some incredible collaboration:

• The Problem: My tile pro noticed a safety concern with the shower floor tile we had selected months ago. Even though it was “rated” for showers, his expertise told him it wasn’t the right fit for this specific project.

• The Pivot: Instead of moving forward and hoping for the best, we paused. I dropped everything, headed to the store, and found a replacement that had just hit the shelves.

• The Result: Not only is the new tile safer, but the client likes it even more than the original choice!

The Lesson:
Things will go wrong. That’s inevitable. But when you have a team that isn’t afraid to speak up and a process that allows for a quick pivot, the end result is often better than the original plan.
A huge shoutout to the project managers and tradespeople who keep us on our toes. We bring these visions to life together. 🤝

I feel strongly about supporting local. When I’m choosing products or deciding who to collaborate with, prioritizing people in my community is so important.

I’m so excited to be working with local artist Michael Beenenga on a custom mural for one of my client projects. This is how we create spaces that feel personal, meaningful, and truly one of a kind.

Being able to support others while making a positive impact in our community is what being a business owner is about.

Who are your favorite local businesses you like to support?

This week I’m so excited to introduce you to Laura Kuykendall.

From building little worlds as a kid to now creating pieces inspired by curiosity and wonder, her work feels thoughtful, grounded, and full of quiet emotion.

And that’s what I love most about bringing art into a home.

Art like this adds depth, story, and personality to your space in a way nothing else can.

If you’ve been following along this month, you already know how much I believe your home should feel like you, pieces like Laura’s are exactly how you do that.

Go show her some love + support a local artist.

Today is the last day featuring Daniel Logan, but it doesn’t have to end here. Follow is socials.

What was your favorite piece shared this week?

04/16/2026

Daniel Logan calls himself a “Foster Artist.”He doesn’t just sell art, he nurtures each piece until it finds its living home.

That’s a beautiful way to look at it.

As an interior designer

Every project I take on…
every tile,
every piece of art,
every custom detail
I pour a piece of myself into it.

When you spend months thinking about how a space should feel…
how it supports your life…
how it reflects who you are…

It becomes more than design.
It becomes something personal.

I don’t just design homes.
I nurture them until they feel like yours.

If you’re ready for a space that truly feels like you, let’s start the conversation.

A house becomes a home when it starts to tell your story.

Having an original piece of art, like this stunning painting by Daniel Logan, is about more than aesthetics. It’s about the energy and piece of themselves that an artist leaves on the canvas. When you curate your space with local art, you’re weaving your journey together with theirs.

Your home should reflect where you’ve been, who you are now and the person you’re becoming.

If you need help to bring that together. I’m your girl.
