I’m often asked what it’s really like to be an interior designer. Spoiler alert: It’s not all mood boards and fabric swatches!
This morning started with a quiet cup of coffee and quickly turned into a “get on-site now” emergency. Here’s how a potential disaster turned into a major win, thanks to some incredible collaboration:
• The Problem: My tile pro noticed a safety concern with the shower floor tile we had selected months ago. Even though it was “rated” for showers, his expertise told him it wasn’t the right fit for this specific project.
• The Pivot: Instead of moving forward and hoping for the best, we paused. I dropped everything, headed to the store, and found a replacement that had just hit the shelves.
• The Result: Not only is the new tile safer, but the client likes it even more than the original choice!
The Lesson:
Things will go wrong. That’s inevitable. But when you have a team that isn’t afraid to speak up and a process that allows for a quick pivot, the end result is often better than the original plan.
A huge shoutout to the project managers and tradespeople who keep us on our toes. We bring these visions to life together. 🤝
