Meet Paddi, the adventure Kitty!!! Paddi, (originally Kessy) came to us from catsatwildbluecats!!! She is mostly blind and loves food and she occasionally wanders outside when she is feeling “adventurous”. I happened to catch her protecting me from this viscious dead vine in the garden! Thanks Paddi!!!

Have you noticed strange green or purple cone-like growths on your blue spruce?

Don't panic! These are likely Cooley Spruce Galls, a common sight on spruce trees throughout Colorado. These galls are formed by tiny aphid-like insects called Cooley Spruce Gall Adelgids. While they may look alarming, the good news is that they typically cause little to no long-term harm to healthy spruce trees.

• Cooley spruce gall adelgids require two hosts to complete their normal life cycle: spruce and Douglas-fir.
• The insects live protected inside the gall as it develops.
• Once the gall has formed, sprays are usually ineffective because the insects are safely hidden within it.
• If treatment is needed, the best times to spray are early spring before new growth begins or fall when the overwintering insects return to the tree.

In most cases, Cooley spruce galls are more of a cosmetic issue than a serious threat. If you're concerned about your spruce, bring us photos and we'll help identify what you're seeing!

Hey COS Gardeners!
Now that our daytime AND nighttime temps are warming up ( 50°–70°F), you should finally start seeing those late sleepers wake up!
Plants like butterfly bush, ornamental grasses (switchgrass, miscanthus, little bluestem), and even some perennials like hardy hibiscus and Russian sage won’t show life until the soil is truly warm. They’re not late… they’re just waiting for the right conditions.
If yours are just starting to pop—perfectly normal
If you’re still not seeing anything, don’t panic yet. Give them a little more time, and if you’re unsure, snap a photo and bring it in—we’re happy to help you figure it out
Colorado gardening keeps us on our toes… but that’s part of the fun!!?!!

Your Garden Needs Flowers… and so do the pollinators!

If you want a thriving yard, you need the workers behind the scenes—bees, butterflies, and all their tiny friends. And right now, they’re hungry!

Planting flowers isn’t just about color… it’s about giving pollinators the fuel they need to keep everything blooming, growing, and producing.

No pollinators = no flowers, no fruit, no garden magic.

So if you’ve been thinking about adding some color… consider this your sign
Plant a few. Plant a lot. Just plant something.
Your garden—and the pollinators—will thank you

We are fully stocked with trees, shrubs, perennials and color pots to bring all the pollinators to the yard!
Questions? We are happy to help!
