Need a little inspiration for your shady pots and containers☺️?

In this video, Helmi shares some of her favorite tips for designing SHADE containers that look full, balanced, and interesting all season long. Think about mixing height, color, texture, and different leaf shapes to create a combination that really stands out!!!

One of her favorite tricks? Don’t be afraid to mix in a few houseplants, tropicals, or even herbs.

Okay…but have you seen our dahlias lately?! 😍

The blooms are finally starting to pop and they only get better from here. These summer bloomers are loved for their range of colors, long bloom season, and excellent cut flowers. The more you cut blooms for bouquets (or deadhead spent flowers), the more flowers they’ll keep producing!

Begonia fun fact: While many people know begonias for their colorful leaves, some varieties produce beautiful sprays of flowers like these 🙂. The bright yellow centers and delicate blooms add a whole different layer of interest to an already amazing plant.

They’re proof that sometimes the smallest flowers put on the biggest show. I’ll post the full size pic to our stories - feel free to screenshot any of our shareable art and use them for backgrounds on your phone.

Begonias!!!!

Did you know not all begonias grow the same way? In today’s greenhouse walk, Helmi talks about the difference between cane begonias and rhizomatous begonias. Cane begonias grow upright on bamboo-like stems and can become beautiful statement plants over time. Rhizomatous begonias spread from thick stems that grow along the soil surface and are often grown for their incredible foliage colors, patterns, and textures.

One of our favorite things about begonias is how versatile they are. They make fantastic houseplants, but they can also add unique color and texture to shaded patios, porches, and outdoor containers during the growing season.

Just remember: begonias are not winter hardy in Columbia, MO. If you’d like to keep them from year to year, bring them indoors before frost and enjoy them as houseplants all winter long.
